50 of the Best Uses for Coconut Oil           Coconut oil has a bit of a craze surrounding it. People have put together hundreds of different uses for this beneficial oil. Coconut oil has found its way into pantries, medicine cupboards, and even first aid kits. Some of the uses may seem bizarre, but coconut oil has garnered this newfound fame for good reason. For years, coconut oil had a bad name as it was lumped in with unhealthy saturated fats. People steered away from it and other high fat foods. The problem with throwing coconut oil in the same category as butter, margarine, and shortening is this oil is far healthier than it appears. The saturated fats in coconut oil come from medium chain triglycerides. These shorter fat chains are easily put to use by the body and are not simply stored away as fat. This means coconut oil boosts energy levels, raises good cholesterol, and balances out blood sugar without the weight gain, cholesterol, and other health risks that come from other saturated fats. Coconut oil doesn’t stop there. It is antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-parasitic, and antiviral. It also aids in the absorption of vitamins and minerals. These immune boosting properties make it the perfect oil to use in a million ways. Here are 50 of our favorites. Massage Oil – Coconut oil soothes tired and sore muscles. Add a few drops of essential oils for more effect. Athletes Foot – The powerful antifungal properties of coconut oil make it perfect for any fungal infection. Add a few drops of oregano or tea tree oil for more antifungal power. Acne – Coconut oil gently fights the bacteria that cause acne. Dab it directly on the offending pimples and watch them shrink. Cleanser – Coconut oil makes an effective and gentle cleanser to remove the grime of the day. Lice – Coconut oil kills and removes this pesky problem. Stretch Marks – Prevent and soften stretch marks from pregnancy with coconut

Do's and Don'ts One nights stand: The dos and don'ts      One night stands haven't got the best reputation. But we're not convinced that they're quite as bad as some people think. A one night stand can be fun - it's your chance to go wild for a night.  And if you want to sleep with a sexy stranger you've met on a night out, then why not? Guys don't get nearly as much stick for it as us ladies. Now don't get us wrong, we're not suggesting you hop into bed with any hot guy you meet on the dance floor.  And yes, you have to be safe (we've got plenty of parent-style keeping safe tips to come, don't you worry). But these days one night stands are pretty commonplace - and can be a lot of fun, as long as you follow these simple rules.     Do be safe   We told you we were going to go all mum and dad on you, so let's get it out of the way, then we can tell you how you should act in bed and what time you should leave the morning after a one night stand. So, for any one night stand it's important to be safe. That doesn't just mean using a condom - although that is essential, remember even if you're on the pill you can still get STIs.

Ultimate Halloween Peanut Butter Oreo Brownie Bar           AKA The OMG Illegal-in-48-States Ultimate Insane Brownie. I’ve been seeing these new white chocolate candy corn Halloween M&Ms pop up all over my favorite food blogs recently, and I knew I had to get my hands on some! I had no idea what to expect. Did they taste like white chocolate? Candy corn? M&Ms? I was totally intrigued, so at 10 pm on Friday night, Jenny and I decided on the spur of the moment to go on the hunt all over Nashville in search of these mysterious candies. Just another a day in the crazy life of two sweet shoppers! (Make sure you check out Jenny’s yummy dessert with the same M&M’s today too!)

Common Grammar Mistakes That (Almost) Everyone Makes                     As someone who slings red ink for a living, let me tell you: grammar is an ultra-micro component in the larger picture; it lies somewhere in the final steps of the editing trail; and as such it’s an overrated quasi-irrelevancy in the creative process, perpetuated into importance primarily by bitter nerds who accumulate tweed jacketsand crippling inferiority complexes. But experience has also taught me that readers, for better or worse, will approach your work with a jaundiced eye and an itch to judge. While your grammar shouldn’t be a reflection of your creative powers or writing abilities, let’s face it — it usually is.   Below are 20 common grammar mistakes I see routinely, not only in editorial queries and submissions, but in print: in HR manuals, blogs, magazines, newspapers, trade journals, and even best selling novels. If it makes you feel any better, I’ve made each of these mistakes a hundred times, and I know some of the best authors in history have lived to see these very toadstools appear in print. Let's hope you can learn from some of their more famous mistakes.   Who and Whom This one opens a big can of worms. “Who” is a subjective — or nominative — pronoun, along with "he," "she," "it," "we," and "they." It’s used when the pronoun acts as the subject of a clause. “Whom” is an objective pronoun, along with "him," "her," "it", "us," and "them." It’s used when the pronoun acts as the object of a clause. Using “who” or “whom” depends on whether you’re referring to the subject or object of a sentence. When in doubt, substitute “who” with the subjective pronouns “he” or “she,” e.g., Who loves you? cf., He loves me. Similarly, you can also substitute “whom” with the objective pronouns “him” or “her.” e.g., I consulted an attorney whom I met in New York. cf., I consulted him.   Which and That This is one of the most common mistakes out there, and understandably so. “That” is a restrictive pronoun. It’s vital to the noun to which it’s referring.  e.g., I don’t trust fruits and vegetables that aren’t organic. Here, I’m referring to all non-organic fruits or vegetables. In other words, I only trust fruits and vegetables that are organic. “Which” introduces a relative clause. It allows qualifiers that may not be essential. e.g., I recommend you eat only organic fruits and vegetables, which are available in area grocery stores. In this case, you don’t have to go to a specific grocery store to obtain organic fruits and vegetables. “Which” qualifies, “that” restricts. “Which” is more ambiguous however, and by virtue of its meaning is flexible enough to be used in many restrictive clauses. e.g., The house, which is burning, is mine. e.g., The house that is burning is mine.   Lay and Lie This is the crown jewel of all grammatical errors. “Lay” is a transitive verb. It requires a direct subject and one or more objects. Its present tense is “lay” (e.g., I lay the pencil on the table) and its past tense is “laid” (e.g.,Yesterday I laid the pencil on the table). “Lie” is an intransitive verb. It needs no object. Its present tense is “lie” (e.g., The Andes mountains lie between Chile and Argentina) and its past tense is “lay” (e.g., The man lay waiting for an ambulance). The most common mistake occurs when the writer uses the past tense of the transitive “lay” (e.g., I laid on the bed) when he/she actually means the intransitive past tense of “lie" (e.g., I lay on the bed).

Keep Your Account Safe           My fellow FanBoxers: I have a very important announcement to make today. It involves your FanBox account, your money and your FanBox Bank. About 6 weeks ago, you may remember that I made a post that discussedhow many of our FanBoxer friends were getting their accounts taken over by hackers. Of course that was completely unacceptable for us as a community to sit, watch and witness. Since then, I have made very few new blog posts. Why? Where did I disappear to? We have been feverishly (but quietly) developing and implementing a variety of products and technologies to keep your account safe. Many of the new features & technologies are already live and are protecting your accounts in ways that I cannot discuss publicly here. (You may or may not have already noticed some of them). However, I'm prepared to share with you some exciting news that I am sure you'll enjoy: A new product launch will soon protect you in ways that were never before possible. Soon you will notice something new at the top right of your homepage, called your Profile Completeness: One of the important steps to achieving 100% Profile Completeness, is to Keep Your Account Safe. The first step of Keep Your Account Safe is to Add your Mobile Number. By adding your mobile number, you can rest assured that if any large purchases or cash outs are made from your account, you will be notified via text message (SMS) on your mobile phone. Adding your mobile number gives you peace of mind: If a hacker ever takes over your account, they won't get very far! Also, if you forget your password, you can use your mobile phone to reset your password and sign back in. The next step of Keep Your Account Safe is to Create Your FanBox Bank:

Non Sum Qualis Eram Bonae Sub Regno Cynarae           Last night, ah, yesternight, betwixt her lips and mine  There fell thy shadow, Cynara! thy breath was shed  Upon my soul between the kisses and the wine;  And I was desolate and sick of an old passion,  Yea, I was desolate and bowed my head:  I have been faithful to thee, Cynara! in my fashion.

How to Create an Advertisement Writing the advertisement Come up with a catchy, snappy tagline. Keep it short and sweet; the average product needs no more than six or seven words. If you say it out loud and it sounds like a mouthful, edit it down. Whatever it is, it should grab the consumer's attention and convince him or her that your product is different from everyone else’s. Consider using: Rhyme – “Do you Yahoo?” Humor – “Dirty mouth? Clean it with Orbit chewing gum!” A play on words – “Every kiss begins with ‘Kay’” Creative imagery – Yellow Pages: “Let your fingers do the walking” Metaphor – “Red Bull gives you wings” Alliteration – “Intel Inside” A personal pledge – Motel 6: “We leave the light on for you” Dry understatement – Carlsberg beer has a big sign in downtown Copenhagen that reads, “Probably the best beer in town”. Avoid the same old The key to a good advertisement is being memorable. The second your ad borrows a familiar advertising phrase (for example, “new and improved,” “guaranteed,” or “free gift”––is there any other kind?), it becomes interchangeable with thousands of others. What’s more, listeners are so used to ad clichés that they don’t even hear them anymore. (Just listen to Tom Waits’s Step Right Up to hear how meaningless clichés sound when strung together.) Startling the reader into paying attention is especially useful if you have a lot to say. For example, this long, environmentally-oriented announcement wouldn’t turn many heads if it weren’t for the unusual, confrontational tagline; if the reader wants to get the joke, she or he has to read more. Know how to walk the line between controversial and entertaining. Pushing the limits of good taste to help your ad grab attention is common practice, but don't go too far––you want your product to be recognized on its own merits, not because it was tied to a tasteless advertisement. Use a persuasive technique. There are tried and true methods that advertisers rely on to make their ads stick. These include: Common sense: Challenging the consumer to think of a good reason why not to purchase a product or service. Humor: Making the consumer laugh, thereby making yourself more likeable and memorable. This pairs especially well with refreshing honesty. Not the most successful business in your class? Advertise that your lines are shorter. Repetition: Getting your product to stick by repeating key elements. Jingles are the most obvious way to do this, but unless they’re very good, they’re also the most annoying. If you go this route, brainstorm a more creative, less obvious repetition technique such as the one that was used in the Budweiser frog commercials (“bud-weis-er-bud-weis-er-bud-weis-er”). Exigency: Convincing the consumer that time is of the essence. Limited-time

Is Your Blog Ready to Generate An Income Online?                  If you love blogging and you want to generate an income online using it, how will you start? And if you do become a success, how will you turn this success into profit? It seems that the hardest thing to do is get traffic, but once you get it and become good at it, you can generate an income online, or at least that’s what they all say, but no one takes the time to show you the exact steps they took after they acquired that necessary traffic to turn into profit. I don’t want them to tell me what I already know by listing the different ways I can generate an income online, I want to know what they did the moment they decided to monetize their blog. If I start a blog and it becomes popular due to my unique high quality content, whats next? For example which one of the following should I choose, or at least start with so I can generate an income online from my blog?

Driving Traffic To A New Website

Too Busy To Build A Website?           If you're a small business owner and you want a website that attracts buyers to your business, one option is to make the mistake my brother-in-law made. He was busy restoring classic cars and didn't have the time to learn how to build a website, so he hired a friend of a friend to do it for him. The resulting site LOOKED attractive, but unfortunately it was hardly ever found in search engines. HUGE mistake! You don't want to be forced to pay for every visitor, not when - with expert help - you can get free traffic from search engines.  Another option is to do what I did, back in 1996 when I was building my online business. I fiddled about and experimented for MONTHS. I eventually learned a lot, but I wasted an awful lot of valuable time. Other business people I know have hired a web designer they found in the Yellow Pages, or hired a college student, with disappointing results. Don't risk taking such shortcuts with your business. In the long run, they can be an expensive mistake. Unfortunately, far too many web designers know little about how to build a site that WORKS, generating targeted leads and sales. An attractive website is no use at all if it's invisible. If you're busy, the best way to build a business website is to let the specially trained experts at SiteSell Services build it

All-Natural Ways to Fight Bloating           Most of us are familiar with bloating—that uncomfortable, swollen feeling in your belly. Whether the bloating is caused by water retention, gas or constipation, you don't necessarily need to head to the pharmacy right away to find relief. The edibles below may be able to help, thanks to their natural anti-bloating properties. But before you chow down, check with your physician to make sure your symptoms aren't indicative of a more serious issue. Papaya "The enzyme papain, which is found in papaya, is very similar to some of the digestive enzymes secreted by the pancreas to help break down proteins in food," says Timothy Harlan, MD, medical director at the Tulane University School of Medicine and author of Just Tell Me What to Eat. Data, including a 2009 study in the Journal of Medicinal Food, has suggested the tropical fruit may help with many aspects of digestion, which can help ease bloating related to constipation or gas. To reap the maximum benefits of the enzyme, eat papaya whole or blend it into a smoothie—fruit juices are often devoid of essential vitamins and nutrients. And that goes for vitamins, too. "Taking papaya extract (papain) in supplement form would not be as beneficial as obtaining it from the whole papaya because the vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals and enzymes in whole foods interact to impart health benefits greater than an isolated nutrient or compound," says Kari Kooi, RD,
