Have you noticed that each post now has its own unique URL -- located at the bottom of each post above the comments?
The next time you are writing about a topic -- such as Sports Cars -- and find a great post (from another author) that's relevant to your topic -- such as Photos of Fast Cars -- why not link to that post from your post?
Then, when a reader is enjoying your post (let's call it Post A) and follows that link to the other post (Post B) -- YOU EARN!
Here's how it works:
As you know, you earn on FanBox based on the engagement level of your readers. In other words, the more time readers spend enjoying your posts, the more you earn.
When a reader spends time in your post (Post A), you earn 100% of what you would have earned for that time, of course. Then, if the reader clicks to visit Post B (which belongs to someone else) you earn 80% of the time the reader spends in Post B. The author of Post B earns 20% of the time the reader spends there.
Therefore, it makes sense for you to link to posts that are relevant to the topic of your post, because if the reader clicks to visit that other post (as opposed to leaving your post in a different manner) you continue to earn.
By providing smart links out, you will earn a reputation with readers as an author that is dedicated to giving the reader what he wants -- instead of trying to "trap" the user in your post, with no ability to continue to explore the topic unless he clicks out of your post by clicking a tag (Search Term), an Ad for a different post, or any of the many other buttons and links on the page.
It's a fact that readers appreciate authors who remember that the author's role is to inform, entertain or otherwise bring knowledge and learnings to the reader -- on the topic at hand -- and don't mind passing the user to another author who they believe can successfully continue that job.
-------------------
In other words, if you love someone, let them go.
As many of you have undoubtedly discovered, if you try and tie them up in your basement, they will try really hard to escape, and will definitely never come back. :)
So in the middle of your posts -- and definitely at the end of your posts -- do your readers (and yourself; and other authors) a favor and point them in the right direction to learn more about your topic.
- Readers will reward you by coming back to your posts again and again
- The FanBox algorithms will reward you with 80% of the time they spend in the places you send them
- And other authors will reward you back -- by linking to your posts from theirs -- if they think your post will serve their readers well
Oh, one last thing:
The algorithms track and compensate for unlimited levels of clicking!
In other words, if the user clicks out from Post B to yet another post (Post C), you continue to earn for time spent in Post C too! (And if they click from Post C to Post D, your earnings continue, and so on and so forth).
So what are you waiting for?
Increase the earnings from all your posts -- by linking to the most useful posts that are relevant to your topic!
